Tower Bridge vuonna Lontoo

Tower Bridge on yksi maailman kuuluisimmista silloista. Se rakennettiin vuonna 1894 ja ylittää Lontoon läpi kulkevan Thames-joen. Sillassa on kaksi tornia ja kaksoisläppäsilta, jonka ali isot laivat pääsevät, kun läpät nostetaan ylös. Sillan rakennusaikana Lontoon satama sijaitsi vielä suurelta osin Tower Bridgen ja London Bridgen välissä. Joen suulta Tower Bridgen kohdalle saakka laivat pääsevät esteettömästi, koska sillä osuudella Thames-joen yli ei ole siltoja, ainoastaan joen alittavia tunneleita. Ulkoasultaan silta oli suunnitteluvaiheessa keskiaikaistyylinen, rakennusvaiheessa siitä tehtiin koristeellisempaa viktoriaanista gotiikkaa edustava.

This doesn't get as much a mention as the red bus/phone box/bigben etc. but it's amazing, especially on the south side in the evening when the lights are lit along the bank. Worth a visit.

Simply one of the most famous, iconic, unforgettable sights in the world. Now you can even go up one of the towers (the one on the north bank side) and cross the Thames walking on its glass walkways!

Walk over it and enjoy stunning views.There is the Tower Bridge exhibition with access to the upper part of the bridge.The exhibition has a small part of the bridge having a glass floor.

Love this bridge, especially in sunset and after dark. If you are a tourist in London getting all the way up into the towers is quite cool experience.
